The price of Gold (the metal) has soared. City Island Gold (the honey) has soared as well. It has soared through the air of City Island in the form of bees collecting nectar for that delicious end product known as City Island Gold.

In case you are not familiar with City Island Gold, it is produced and sold locally at merchants such as Kaleidoscope at the corner of City Island Avenue and Hawkins Street. So if you are in the mood for a sweet, natural treat pick up a jar or two and enjoy the nectar of the bees without getting stung.

1970 - 1971: The new government closes all foreign military bases in the country, expels several thousand Italian residents and closes foreign-operated libraries and cultural centers.
