American comedian Joan Rivers, who was a Red Carpet Fixture, has been reportedly pronounced dead at 81. She had been unconscious for over a week after going into cardiac arrest.
Five days after what turned out to be a-fatal heart and lung failure, remained on life support was accompanied by her daughter, Melissa, stood vigil until the end. She wrote the following
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother.
Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.
My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
JOAN RIVERS was an internationally renowned comedienne, Emmy-award-winning television talk-show host, Tony-award-nominated actress, bestselling author, playwright, screenwriter, film director, columnist, lecturer, syndicated radio host, jewelry designer, cosmetic-company entrepreneur, and red-carpet fashion laureate. An entertainment legend, Joan was the first woman to break the glass ceiling of Late Night Television.
